An Invitation

I was learning and realized that I received an invitation to become royalty.
The Torah describes the Children of Israel as placing on the ground before their tentsthe two royal crowns each received after saying Naaseh V’nishma. They understood that they forfeited their royal status with the sin of the Golden Calf. The Midrash teaches that Moshe gathered the crowns and offers them back to us each Shabbat when we respond to his call to “Lichu Niranina”; “Come and join me In welcoming the Shabbat”. Moshe is inviting us to reclaim our royal status each Shabbat.
I accept. I guess I will have to rise to the occasion. I will have to practice speaking, thinking, and acting as royalty.

The Foundation Stone is pleased to offers some help for those who want to join me in accepting Moshe’s invitation: The Second of the Seven Haftarot of Consolation: Confrontation offers suggestions of repairing our souls so they we may indeed reclaim the royalty of Sinai. Table Talk takes us back to the Golden Calf, the Garden of Eden and the Shabbat Table to learn how to use God’s Mitzvot to rise to royal status. Rabbi Yaakov Shlomo Weinberg’s The Torah Connectiontouches on numerous topics in the portion. We are honored to offer Rabbi Yochanan Zweig’s The Profundities of Torah, Rabbi Chaim Goldberger’s The Voice of Torah, and El-Ad’s Naaseh V’Nishma.

We are happy to announce a new regular column on the Wisdom of Mishlei – Proverbs. The Foundation Stone Blog presents podcasts on the Portion of the Week: From Head to Heel and Process, as well as podcasts on Bentching I & II, one of the Mitzvot in this portion. You can also find: Not By Bread Alone, Love With No Object , Are you Growing Spiritually and a podcast of Rav Kook on Prayer.

I hope to see you at the grand coronation in a little less than six weeks.

Shabbat Shalom
